JBS Solutions' Newton Appointed to NDIA Women In Defense Advisory Board

Huntsville, AL — JBS Solutions Chief Operating Officer Melanie Newton has been appointed to the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA)/Women in Defense (WID) 2027—29 Advisory Board.
WID, an NDIA affiliate, is a leading organization championing the advancement of national security and defense professionals.
An engineering services firm with employees across the USA supporting NASA and the U.S. Department of War, JBS specializes in spaceflight planning, systems engineering and integration and mechanical design and analysis engineering.
Newton manages the day-to day operations of the SBA certified 8(A) and Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) which is headquartered in Huntsville, AL.
WID Executive Director Audricia McKinney, congratulated Newton in a communication, stating, “I want to personally thank you for accepting your appointment to the NDIA/Women in Defense Advisory Board. As appointed members of the Advisory Board, you will help guide strategic priorities, strengthen engagement, and support WID's mission over the next two years. It is an honor to work alongside you, and I look forward to collaborating throughout your term.”
WID has 20 local chapters across the United States.
Newton has been active with the WID Tennessee Valley Chapter for nine years, serving on the board of directors as scholarship chair for three and a half of those, and, most recently, as vice-president, president and past president of the organization for six years.
Newton said, "I am thrilled to join this distinguished group of industry leaders and serve on the board. My mission perfectly aligns with WID’s mission of connecting, developing and elevating professionals across our field. I look forward to serving and working with this incredible network of leaders as we prepare for our upcoming installation ceremony."
The official installation of the nonprofit’s officers will take place in October.
